For years I dug
Making you a home in my heart
Always working to make it better for you
Until you decided
It wasnt enough
Never had I wondered about a space for me
In yours
I let the words lie like stones
I Love you
Dead and forgotten
The lies you said
Maybe I knew
And Now that you've decided that
Its cold out there,
Or maybe that my tears would run out
Or my heart would rush along that river
To find someone new
You Love me again
I notice that
You are not digging for me
You only want me if I
Am doing something or I don't call you
But I feel that If I stop making the effort
There would be nothing left
If I push a boulder over the hole
In my heart where would we stay?
I can't hope that you would start to notice
But It's the beginning again
Let me start digging at one of the cracks from before
To make my heart a grander place for you
And I hope that something changes
Because now there is a leak
And I wouldn't want you to drown.
